Whether in his approach to business or when preparing for a marathon, Bryan likes a challenge. Whatever that challenge is, he believes in preparing for it as well as possible–and then being ready to adapt as needed. And, of course, adapting will be needed.
With a degree in Business Administration and a Concentration in Finance and experience in mutual fund accounting, Bryan is well-prepared to handle the numbers and data that crosses his desk every day. You kind of have to be geared a certain way to process so many details accurately–and to have fun doing it. Luckily for him, ensuring transactions are reflected correctly appeals to Bryan’s meticulous nature. With tech advancements constantly changing the terrain, Bryan is also adept at learning on the fly.
The same attributes show up in Bryan’s favorite hobby—long-distance running. He especially enjoys marathons and plans all of his training meticulously. Every mile and cross-training workout is accounted for at least 6 months ahead.
On race day, it all gets proven out—especially somewhere around mile 18–where every runner hits the infamous wall. It’s where everything in your body is saying it’s too much and your mind is racing. You can get into a bad place mentally really fast and if you’re going to continue, you have to slow that mind down. You have to focus not on how far you still have to go—but on the thing you can do right now. Instead of letting your mind go back to that blister forming on your toe, you have to focus on the very next step. Instead of zeroing in on your quivering quads, you have to look around and find some blossoms on a tree or something to enjoy. When Bryan faces this moment, instead of collapsing, the mental discipline helps him push through.
After most marathons, Bryan promises himself he’s done. And for a week or so, he keeps that promise. But eventually, he’s right back to planning for the next one. That fighting spirit just wants to see the goal through. It comes in handy professionally, too. He knows how to take things one task at a time even when he’s pulled in different directions and doesn’t get rattled when technology breaks or something doesn’t work out.
While Bryan enjoys some intense interests, he also knows how to have fun and take the right things lightly. He enjoys relaxing and watching movies, playing with his dogs, and hanging out with his fiancé.
